Optimization

Optimization products vary according to the needs of each building. They are the most complete products, combining the measurement and management of peaks of the power demand.

The energy optimizer is a device which anticipates and calculates in real time the displacement of the demand from the meter of the energy supplier and it manages the peak of the demanded power, thus increasing the factor of use and generating substantial savings .

The EKS C4-x Optimizers have a power trend calculation mode, based on a power integration management algorithm, designed for the management of power demand.

It has 4 setpoints for managing different power thresholds and a synchronization input suitable for Hydro-Québec meters.

In addition to controlling the powers, the EKS devices are also used to perform many additional functions, including:

Monitoring and control of risks of disconnection (cables, transformers)
Monitoring and control of generator set operations
Acquisition and storage of measurements and counts
Specific automatisms (events, schedules)

Possibility of protecting secondary equipment (Transformers and generators) in order to limit the possibilities of overloads.

GENERAL

The EKS-C4x-SP series energy optimizers are computerized systems designed and built for the purpose of energy management. They are programmed via a “nomadic” keyboard or a PC / Internet. All EKS are equipped with a time switch function with 8 weekly clocks.

A PILOT

The EKS-C4x- optimizer plays the role of a conductor by distributing the available energy according to needs. There is no change in consumption and therefore comfort. The EKS-C4x- respect the amount of energy to be supplied to each station.

DESIGN

Their design is industrial, in accordance with the strictest regulations (CE / CSA / LVS IEL 1010 standard) construction in accordance with ISO 9002 standards. The EKS can be placed in a difficult environment (temperature, humidity or electrical noise)

PRINCIPLE

The EKS-C4x- optimizers make it possible to distribute the available energy (contract taken out) according to the specific needs of each device consuming electricity. The information provided by a pulse counter is integrated by a complex algorithm making it possible to project, every second, the probability of consumption in the following minutes.

MEASURES

Contract module

Depending on the type of contract taken out, the optimizer will apply different mathematical functions.
Linear integration 10mn: (with sync) or floating per window of 10mn every 2mn.
Floating linear integration 5 minutes every minute.
Exponential rate: exponential integration calculation for 90% meters in 15 minutes
Linear rate 15 or 30 min

Energy flow module

The energy flow regulation allows to regulate the power:
circuit breakers
transformers
generators
The 2 Modules (contract and energy flow) are complementary.

CKS 4800
CURRENT KONTROL SYSTEM
A network power optimizer

The CKS4800 are computer systems designed for power optimization and energy control.

They make it possible to monitor the powers demanded to avoid tripping or to reduce the powers subscribed to energy suppliers by acting in a controlled manner on consumers.

The power measurement is adapted based on the function to be performed: trip management, phase balancing, contract management, etc.

Actions on consumer equipment are adjustable and made transparent to users. They integrate regulation functions from analog measurements and or clocks.

Only they are suitable for small and medium-sized installations. They are used on a network at important sites or as part of the management of a “Smart Grid” network.

They are programmed either by a PC or from the built-in touch screen depending on the versions.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

Reading of physical quantities: U (V); I (A); cos f; phase angle, apparent, active, reactive energies (per phase and for all phases.
the CKS4800 operates on the basis of one or more counts, impulse or direct measurements (Current Transformer).
Power optimization function “Optilesteur®” for the protection of circuit breakers and transformers, it is configured to work in apparent power and uses a thermal integration algorithm of the measured volume of energy.
Power monitoring by phase. In the event of phase imbalance the system reacts on the strongest phase and operates on single-phase equipment supplied by this phase
Tariff optimization function “Optiwatteur®”. Its measurement and calculation method are adapted to the monitored tariff (Apparent power, active average 10 minutes.).
“Energy limiter (EPE)” function associated with the “Optiwatteur®” function. On external request (dry contact or via network), regulation procedures allowing to punctually reduce consumption are launched (% compared to the last recorded values or fixed power values).
Outputs adjustable in logic or PWM mode for gentle action and capable of incorporating regulation based on analog measurement.
Annual clock (Option CKS-HORL)
Function allowing to add the counting measurements (Option CKS-CALCVAL; up to 8 counters).
“Smart Grid” function for integrating lowering or profiling requests transmitted by an external operator (DRA and Open DRA protocol, via GIS gateway)
The outputs can be slaved to regulation functions in relation to analog inputs, or to automation functions in relation to digital or time inputs (annual clock).

EKS C4
ENERGY KONTROL SYSTEM

Built to suppress peak power, the EKS C4-x optimizer controls certain consumer equipment and shifts small amounts of energy with precise action rules. Its action takes place without modifying consumption, which allows production constraints to be respected without disturbing the equipment in its operations.

The EKS C4-x Optimizers have a power trend calculation mode, based on a power integration management algorithm (5, 10 and 15 min), designed for the management of subscribed power. They anticipate every second the consumption calls of the equipment they manage.

It has 4 setpoints for managing different power thresholds and an input for synchronization with the energy supplier’s meter.
